The smart home display is likely to integrate with Apple’s rumoured Face ID doorbell.
Two potential features of Apple’s upcoming smart home display have been revealed by tipster @Kosutami_Ito.
According to the tipster, the smart home display is known internally at Apple as the “HomePad”. The tipster also revealed that a prototype at Apple includes a MagSafe-like snap-to-wall capability, and that it is designed to integrate with another upcoming smart home product, a Face ID-enabled doorbell.
Apple has been rumoured to be developing this smart home hub-like device for several years. According to reports, this device is supposed to function as a hub for controlling smart home devices, listening to music and podcasts, and making and taking video calls. It’s expected to have a small display so that users can get glanceable information, such as weather and calendar events.
Powered by a new OS, the HomePad is expected to be the “command center for the home”. Initially rumoured to arrive in 2025, the launch of the HomePad was reportedly pushed back due to the delayed launch of the “more personalised Siri”.
The HomePad is now slated to launch in the fall later this year alongside the iPhone 18.
